The Trinity Alps are a range of mountain crags in north-central California. State Highway 299 snakes through these peaks which rise to over 9000 feet (2700 m) above sea level. Early Spring is a beautiful time to take the three-hour drive from the north coastal town of Arcata to Redding at the top of the Sacramento Valley. This photograph of winter - beginning to surrender to an early spring.
