About The Artwork

(Limited edition of 10 signed prints) Archival pigment print from digitally collaged 35mm photographs of the Ecola Forest, northern Oregon Coast and the Prince Street subway platform, New York City. I divide my time between Portland, Oregon and NYC –and feeling somewhat conflicted about this lifestyle- makes for interesting themes in my work.

Marne Lucas is a multidisciplinary artist investigating nature and culture in photography, video and installation to present unique aesthetic philosophies. Her long-term social practice work includes 'Bardo ∞ Project' an ongoing exploration of creativity as a form of spiritual end of life care, and towards this work, Lucas is training to be a certified end-of-life (EOL) doula, a volunteer role acting as liaison to the dying. Marne's social justice related video works using infrared imaging technology to reference surveillance culture and the fragility of human existence. She exhibits nationally and internationally, and participated in a 2016 Arts/Industry artist residency at the Kohler Factory (Foundry, Pottery), CentralTrak (Dallas, TX) and Caldera artist residencies and the Land Art Mongolia 360 Biennial, Portland2010 Oregon Biennial. She received a 2018 UMEZ Creative Engagement grant administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, an Oregon Arts Commission public art commission and Regional Arts and Culture Council project grants.
