This photograph, printed on canvas board, shows blue sky light reflected on the surface of Barton Creek in Austin Texas. It is part of a series exploring the seemingly infinite set of possible views of the surface of an 18 square foot space on the small creek. Over a period of months, I have photographed this space again and again from different vantage points, while differing amounts of water flowed through the creek, and the sky ranged from totally blue to complete cloud cover. With the set, I hope to impress upon viewers the importance of seeking understanding rather than having it. Things are not always what we think they are. This is a premium fine art print, printed on canvas and mounted on Gator Foamboard, a durable, rigid board and lightweight backing. Ready to hang or frame. Other sizes are available, contact me at shawn@infiniteviewimages.com for more information.

Shawn Thomas' background is varied and his interests diverse. Based in Austin, Texas, he uses the camera as a tool to sharpen, stretch, and enliven his perception of his reality. He believes the best way to live in beauty, intrigue, and artistry is to simply notice the amazing scenes that surround us all the time. His work is a study of the possibilities available to all of us when we choose to explore. His hope and intention is that his work serves as an opportunity for others to escape their noisy, busy worlds, and discover a quiet space to appreciate something simple and surprisingly beautiful, intriguing, or artistic. About his Eighteen Feet series, he says "You have to let them flow through you. Avoid, being tempted to stop and think, “that’s what this is.” The point of this exercise is that things are constantly changing, as are we, the observer of those things. Things are always in a state of flux, and the moment we allow ourselves to grab ahold of one aspect of another as defining, we get a little more stuck. Maybe it’s better to seek understanding than to have it. Maybe it’s better to approach things with a fully open mind, from a standpoint of curiosity rather than knowing." In addition to exposing others to the possibilities he sees, he hopes to inspire others to take up the practice of making photographs for themselves. We live in a world where everyone has a camera. And cameras are extremely valuable tools that can help anyone deepen their connection to, and appreciation of the world around them.
