Elaine, in the quest for freedom - Limited Edition of 5 Photograph

From 2019 works "Of witches and other midsummer dreams" collection in signature pictorialist and dynamic chiaroscuro style. Limited edition of 5 (plus two Artist Proofs). Inspired by the Arthurian legend of Elaine of Astolat as recounted in a 13th century italian novel titled "La Donna di Scalotta" and later poems by Sir Richard Malory and Lord Alfred Tennyson. According to the legend, Elaine of Astolat was a young noblewoman imprisoned in a tower on an island near Camelot, suffering from a mysterious curse and must continually weave images on her loom without ever looking directly out at the world. Instead, she looks into a mirror, which reflects the busy road and the people of Camelot who pass by her island. Sick of being improsoned, she leaves the tower meeting the death before arriving to Camelot. As argued by Poulson "she is a symbol of female empowerment". Masterfully printed in Giclée Hahnemühle Photorag paper. This artwork is sold unframed and printed with 5cm white border each side, which makes it easy for putting in frame.
