Families come in all shapes and sizes. Some are lovely, some are awful, some are hilarious, some are sad and some are lucky. The 'Family Group' is a timeless trope of art and I wanted to explore it in a different way, conjuring up the 'histories', 'relationships' and 'dynamics' of a group that, despite appearances, could very much be a true family unit. I grew to love these guys; they love and watch out for each other, are kind to people, patient with struggling artist/photographers and seize every day with the sheer joy of existence.
