My current work explores our relationship with nature and how it can make affect our mental wellbeing. Modern life is full of distractions that can remove us from being in the present. Long-term, this can have a significant effect on our health, both physically and mentally. It is easy for us all to become enclosed in micro-worlds, narrowing our awareness of the self. However, if we can find a place and space of stillness and contemplation, we can then allow ourselves the opportunity to find perspective. This exploration aims to create a body of work that evokes a valued awareness of the natural world, as a place and environment, for personal and connected wellbeing. The artwork will, at the same time, hopefully, remind us of our responsibility to look after and respect our natural environment. Nature, place, and being are all linked with our mental and physical health. Changing and altering our natural environment for the worse could be seen as self-harming.
