In September of 1979 died an old priest Archpriest John Zakharchenko in Krichev Belarus). The night before, he had prepared his own clothes, telling him what and how to bury him, as well as who to call to the funeral. And in the morning he died… His daughter teacher Larisa Ivanovna called me to the funeral. I loaded two cameras with films. There were priests from the neighboring districts at the funeral. The coffin was carried. His face was covered. Only to the mother of priest was allowed to open the coffin and say good-bye. After a couple of days announced real alarm in edition of our regional newspaper: a lot of people arrived from The Central Committee of Communist party. I was interrogated: "Why were I was there?! " It was a General meeting, where I was branded by my friends. All of them said that they themselves would never go to the funeral of the priest, because it was necessary to first obtain permission from party Committee. Deputy editor of the newspaper the Jew Hamishkan quietly whispered to me: "Search for problem solution...". I found it. In the evening at home I reviewed the tapes of all shots. I chose one, where an old women look squinting at the sun standing next to the priests. Looking at the picture, it seemed that an old women look with contempt at the priests! I printed more than ten copies of this picture, calling it "Epiphany". In the morning I sent a picture to the journal "Science and religion", and also gave a copy to the representatives of the Communist party. I said, that I went to the funeral specifically to take an anti-religious picture. There it is! I received a response from the magazine a week later that the picture will be published. Thanks to this answer I kept my job. By the way, everyone who judged me, died very early or go sick. I am selling the original negative film of that artwork 24x36 mm size.

I was born on 24th of October in 1946 in small town Krichev in Mogilev region of the Republic of Belarus. It was USSR times and my country called BSSR (Belorussia). My mother was growing me up. My father left family, when I just appeared on that earth. But when I was 12 years old in my life had began great changes. The place of my father took stepfather Victor, who gifted to me camera «Fed». It was in 1958. I felt the passion to shoot and make photos. Since then, I had begun to study photography. I learnt to print photos by myself as well. My first publication was in pioneers newspaper «Zorka», which circulation counted millions copies across whole USSR, when I was 14 years old boy. Notwithstanding, all my life I was working as a correspondent in different local newspapers. And almost all main newspapers of USSR were publishing my works («Pravda», «Izvestija», «Selskaja jizn», «Zvezda», «Trud», «Krasnaja Zvezda», «Soviet Patriot» and magazines – «Journalist», «Ogonek», «Krokodile» and etc). But several times I was nearly fired for shooting «not good things». In 1979 I have attended the funeral of priest, but Faith was strongly forbidden in USSR times. All my works were made by soviet cameras «Zenith», «Kiev», «Luibitel», «Smena», «Moscva», «Horizont». I was awarded in different photo competitions: 1-st prize for photo in Berlins Treptow Park «May here is grave of my father» in newspaper «Soviet Army» (1967); 1-st prize for photo «Free fall» about parachutists in newspaper «Soviet patriot» (1968); 2-d prize for reportage about villagers in all-union newspaper «Selskaja jizn» (1979); 2-d prize for reportage about villagers in all-union newspaper «Selskaja jizn» (1980); 3-d prize for reportage about villagers in all-union newspaper «Selskaja jizn» (1985); 1-st prize for photo essay about policeman in republic newspaper «Na strage» (1987); 1-st prize and diploma of the Union of Journalist of Repulic of Belarus for photo «Haulers over Soj river» in newspaper «Republic» (1993); 1-st prize for photos about my country house in republic newspaper «Komsomolskaja Pravda» (2002); Diploma of Union of Writers for photo essay about writer Konstantin Simonov (2014).
