This image formed a part of a series whereby I applied the zone system to a dramatic and epic scene above the city of Valencia, Spain to the West. This image formed a part of a series contemplating the landscape and forms an ongoing investigation into how to present landscape in a way that is neither Cliched or over worked. The landscape offers awe inspiring moments, and the romantic tradition has plenty of information on that. This however is about something else to do with the nature in which landscape can leave us feeling in awe of more than just landscape, but life itself. The print is made on Fine art print paper and framed to last along time sealed in the frame. The print size is A2.

Spain
Steve Young was born in London in 1970. He now lives in the Valencia region of Spain. For many years he has worked on photography projects both commercial and private. Primarily he describes himself as an academically trained art photographer. What does that mean? That all of the work made is underpinned by contextual and visual research, sometimes taking some months to prepare and shoot a project. The work, although not always obvious, offers the viewer both a critique of the situation that is photographed as well as an aesthetic experience. He is an experienced meditator. Over the years of photography practice the motivations to make photos have changed. In the beginning the desire was simply to get the best looking shot. As time has evolved, his artistic vision has deepened and aligned itself more with the voice of experience as an observer of outer and inner phenomia. Photography for Steve Young, is almost always a practice in time of patience and reflection, never rushed or hurried. In many cases the maturation of a body of work can take months or year.
