Gasping for Air - Behind the Purdah First a few words about the composition – its my conscious decision to make this subject so big so that it occupies all of the frame – its for a purpose and the purpose is to enlarge it as much as possible – because it is a threat and we are still ignorant of it. It seems that the old pot with dead flowers has sucked in the lady inside and the lady herself has morphosed to become the dead pot herself. Those who are against the idea of liberation might argue that the lady herself chose to dive inside the darkness of the belly of the old pot. Whatever be the case the lady is travelling from light to darkness – see her hips are in light and the face is in darkness May be after diving-in she suffocated, and that’s why she is trying to put her face out of the dead world. Conflict: This image is an artistic rendition of the struggles and revolution by the Iranian women The irony is as an onlooker we might get swayed by the beauty of the process of veils but the suffocation and the stiffness and the immobility still exists and haunts the women who bear it's burden
