About The Artwork

During the late 2020 Colorado wildfire season, a series of significant wildfires burned almost at will in the Rocky Mountains. In a part of the Poudre Canyon west of Ft. Collins, the Cameron Peak Fire burned over 200,000 acres, making it the largest wildfire recorded in the state of Colorado surpassing the Pine Gulch Fire, previously the largest. Shown here, the Cameron Peak fire ignited on August 13 on the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests near Cameron Pass and Chambers Lake. Burning in heavy timber over rugged terrain, high winds combined with critically dry fuels drove the growth of the fire. This photograph was made from the western side of Loveland, Colorado looking northwest toward the fire. Although many houses in the area required evacuation, the ones in the foreground survived while others did not. Further west, on the opposite slope of the continental divide, the East Troublesome Fire near Grand Lake, Colorado also experienced explosive growth on October 21 creating a huge pyrocumulonimbus cloud that rose to about 40,000 feet. This fire was about 37 percent contained as of November 5, 2020. A couple married for 68 years who wanted to stay with their dream home adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park died in the East Troublesome Fire after refusing evacuation help from friends, family and local authorities, according to the Grand County Sheriff's Office. The East Troublesome Fire invaded parts of Rocky Mountain National Park on both the western and eastern slopes of the Continental Divide. Currently Rocky Mountain National Park is partially closed to the public. Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition. Image copyright 2020 Jon Burch Photography.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Photography is all about using light to capture the emotion and the beauty of a fleeting moment. For me, this adventure began with a single spring image using a small Kodak film camera of a freshly watered central Kansas ditch and has come full circle using modern digital techniques. My first camera was acquired by trading an ancient Royal typewriter to a fellow college student who was desperate to finish a term paper. It was a long time ago and that camera was my passport to an art that has fascinated me ever since. I owned and operated a professional photography studio for 20 years. Part of the studio's early success came from creating outdoor portraiture using controlled lighting that my clients were used to seeing only in studio-produced images. In addition to portraits of all types, business and corporate, family, glamour, bridal, and high school seniors, the studio's operations included a video recording studio and an on-site color production lab that produced award-winning, heritage-quality color portraits. Photographs are little slices of time. I offer only top quality images for your enjoyment and inspection. Discover the difference; I am available for assignment.
