About The Artwork
Hangar One at Moffett Field, Mountain View, California. The hangar covering 8 acres is one of the world's largest freestanding structures - 1138 x 308ft. The Silicon Valley landmark, designed by the Goodyear Zeppelin Corp., was built in 1930 as a naval airship station for the USS Macon. Before the skin of the hangar was removed in 2012 due to aging asbestos, the interior was large enough to generate it's own fog and rain inside. The US Navy now wish to sell the structure after several plans to recover the shell have fallen through.
