KUTHO series : Title: Golden Rock KUTHO takes inspiration from a Burmese concept of merit. A common ritual undertaken by Buddhists is to cover their relics with gold leaves. Leaving a gold-mark is exclusive to male devotees for merit-making towards better karma. Women, in the guise of an impure status, are forbidden to approach. The series talks about Power associated with Religion and the relationship between the visible / not visible, cult/occult, and parallels universes. 2019 Digital photography. I majored in Industrial Design and learned photography at the same time. Materials and forms have always been tools to highlight concepts in their symbolic presence. My passion for photography led me to attend art workshops and residency programs, experimenting with alternative techniques and creative processes such as collage, textiles, paint, or others. I think the image through the poetic and political potential that arises from observation. Deeply curious about regimes of representation to question things while suggesting diverse interpretations. Another line of inquiry in my practice is the voyage. The condition of foreignness and displacement is a source of inspiration. I am interested in the discrepancy between what we see and what we know, where these qualities contradict and coexist simultaneously. Combining artificial and natural elements I seek to question our patterned beliefs and therefore, arrive at new meaning. How does the way we live the city influence our environment? Are we prisoners of our own beliefs? What is the relationship between the visible and not visible, or between religion and spirituality? I hope these questions that come out from my works evolve into new levels of reflection, to revise how we perceive reality.
