This was from a series of photographs I took for my film "Waterlily Jaguar", available on Amazon Prime. In the film the main character becomes obsessed with her. It was another character's imagining of the La Brea Woman. She was symbolic of the main character's downward spiral into darkness and depression. Although in the photos, which I took with Sara Streeter as my model, I attempted to capture a woman emerging from the darkness. The photo was shot with one source of light and a Minolta SRT101 with 35mm film. In reality, she was the only human skeleton found in the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. She is dated 9 to 10 thousand years old. Human sacrifice and ritual were ruled out as there were no human skeletons.
