LIGHT STUDIES. A wider body of work by the artist called "Light Studies". Images in this collection are photomontages that were constructed by combining numerous photographs of lights and shadows taken by the artist in the artist's apartment. The shapes were digitally cut out. Images of light diffractions and flares cast by crystals also form part of the images. Katja is attempting to recreate the feeling of a light flooded room. All photos used were taken by the artist. Images in this series come as a limited signed editions of 7. They are signed and numbered on the back of the image. Prints are on fine art Baryta paper and come with a 0.5 mm border to make mounting easier. On request prints can be mounted on Aluminium, as C-type, or printed at a different size: larger or smaller. The artist can be commissioned to create custom one-off art works following this method inspired by a location of your choice - created with images taken in that space - please inquire to discuss terms.

"Photography took me on a journey and just wouldn't let me go and it became a bit of an obsession. I believe one has to follow ones heart in photography. It should be a free exploration of anything that catches ones attention. As my journey is taking me to very different places I decided to split myself into two: Katja Lichtermeer is the artist and Katja Heber is an editorial and set photographer (just dispel any confusion). Katja Lichtermeer's inspiration comes mainly from her immediate environment, experiences and encounters and feature various subjects and situations. She uses photography to comment on the human condition. Topics she touched on include impermanence, uncertainty, showing mundane detail in a new light and catching fleeting moments to give them some appreciation. She has been located mostly in London. Further influences come from film, art, philosophy, and of course, photography. One of her themes consists of finding images that naturally occur within our modern- day city environment that are reminiscent of great masters or art movements. Initially she rarely chose to digitally alter images but she has started to experiment with photomontage and the manipulation of images. And she has also started painting and shooting videos. Katja Lichtermeer was born in Germany, but London has been her home for most of her life. All art on this site is copyrighted.
