After a short morning drive to the base of the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountains over 10,000 feet above sea level in Lijiang, China, I saw an unusual red structure that I soon discovered was the stage for an awe-inspiring tribute to the ancient pageantry and culture of the Lijiang people. Over 400 local townspeople performed drumming, singing, dancing, horseback riding and storytelling in this spectacular vista of creativity and nature, directed by noted film director, Zhang Yimou of the 2008 Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Photography has allowed me to look outside the human body into its surroundings and occasionally back again into its soul. I want my works to inspire feelings of thoughtfulness, serenity and wonder in the majesty of simple beauty. To capture a distinct meaningful moment and provide the timeless gift of experiencing that moment over and over again; that, to me, is the magic of photography. That is what makes me happy.
