About The Artwork

It was in the 16th century. The Spanish Empire had established its new colony in the Philippines, and its conquistadores were swarming deep into the land to explore, conquer and exploit. It was just a matter of time until they would reach the remote valleys of the Northern Mountain Province. But there the well armed conquistadores would meet upon ancient tribes who would fiercely defend their lands for centuries, eventually driving out the Spanish soldiers and their missionaries. It was 1993 when this Photography was taken, yet there is nothing to be seen, which indicates modern times - it looks like an ancient settlement, peaceful and tranquil, its people oblivious to the danger of enemy soldiers slashing their paths through the jungles, to be arriving here after the moon has melted into the morning sky. In the early Nineties Per-Andre arrived in the Philippines on assignment for a renowned magazine. He traversed Northern Luzon and the very inaccessible areas of the Cordilleras. In these, most remote corners he witnessed cultures, indigenous peoples, sceneries, flora and fauna in their traditional state, untouched by modern life, unchanged in centuries. Sadly these vintage sights and scenes are no longer present. They have been lost in time, never to return and forgotten, if not brought back to life in these art works. This widely exhibited vintage series Per-Andre named "Lost in Time". He used vintage aesthetics and techniques to emphasize the antique nature of his subject matters. This Fine Art Photograph was created in vivid duo-tone, a photographic technique quite challenging to master. This is a truly spectacular Giclee print, using state-of-the-art printing techniques, the most lightfast Lucia pigments on heavy Fine Art canvas (310gsm). The original has NO watermarks and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, stamped (with Hoffmann's family seal), signed and numbered by Per-Andre, who is not only a “Canon Brand Ambassador”, but also a “Canon Legend”.
