About The Artwork
MAN OF CRACKS is from the series PORTRAITS FROM FUTURES PAST. It is a manipulated digital photograph that was painted with acrylics and brush pens. After manipulating the original image in my computer, I deleted the manipulated file and painted the one print. I then created the frame from recycled materials. I have visited and photographed these figurines many times over the past 20 years. They always affect me powerfully. I have never wanted to document them but rather hop on, climb inside and see where they might take me. The framing was inspired by the folk art that I have seen all over Mexico and Central America.
