I have taken this photo with my Sony a7 riii. It s part of a big project called Bloodroot that explores the richness of the link between healers and their communities by studying the intersection of popular health knowledge, often linked to the religious beliefs; and the modality of Natural Medicine, beeing part of the Cuban public health care system. This image was taken in Julio s place, in old Havana neighborhood. Julio is a natural healer for his community. Mamblí, the character in the photo, is an usual pacient of Julio’s. In the photo, he holds a plant called flamboyan, wich has a lot of different healing properties. The photo will be printed on high quality photo paper. Image size is 12 x 18 in. It will be shipped rolled, securely inside a tube.

Argentina
Natalia Favre (b. 1987) is an Argentine documentary photographer and filmmaker based between Cuba and Argentina and working in Latin America. Her work focuses on social issues through an intimate perspective at the intersection between community and identity. She holds a Bachelor in Design and a Diploma in Documentary Photography both from the University of Buenos Aires. For several years, she has worked in the cinema industry from pre-production through the distribution of the storytelling process. Her background in film production added to the skills she applies today in her daily documentary photographic practice. Her work appeared internationally in media such as Washington Post, National Geographic, Bloomberg, Reuters, The Telegraph Magazine, THN, among others, and her films were shown in several international festivals in Cuba, Argentina, Brazil, Spain and the US. She is part of the National Registry of the Audiovisual and Cinematographic Creator (Cuba), a full member of Diversify Photo and Women Photograph and an XXXV Eddie Adams alumni. She is the recipient of the 2022 Will Riera Inspiration Award.
