This piece is from the series PORTRAITS FROM FUTURES PAST is a manipulated digital photographic print that has been painted with acrylics and brush pens. The photograph was made in Mexico of a pre Hispanic figurine. The print was made in my studio. The original was manipulated, this print was made with archival inks on acid free paper. The manipulated file was deleted and this one print was painted with acrylics and brush pens. I then created the frame from recycled materials and inspired by the folk art I've seen in Mexico and Central America. I have visited and photographed these figurines in Mexico several times over the past 20 years. They always have a powerful affect. I've never wanted to document them but rather hop on, climb inside and see where they might take me.
