About The Artwork

I was looking for a Soviet-style apartment for a very long time. that there were no signs of the 21st century. That it was impossible to determine when the photos were taken. yesterday or 50 years ago. fresh or accidentally found in a forgotten archive album. Soviet erotica has always seemed more attractive to me than Western. Soviet erotic more honest. Let it be made less professionally. But there is also no hypocrisy and commerce, which adversely affects creativity. In Soviet eroticism, there were no real professional models that play a role. but there were real women with all the strengths and weaknesses. at the time of the shooting, they rarely thought about money. and did not think that they will be considered by readers of men's magazines. Most often, they thought only of themselves or of a man with a camera who stands nearby. Therefore, I really like this style. Photo taken with Mamiya RB 67 medium format camera using SFL K500T (Kodak Vision 3 500T (5219) film Negative scanned with NORITSU KOKI professional scanner With a resolution of 300 dpi 4121x3311 px

My name is Roman. Welcome to my page. I love to take photos where and when possible. I strive to capture a person in a state of loneliness, which pursues his entire conscious life. More often than not, I show this with a nude female portrait. I live in Sochi. This is the southernmost city of Russia. I grew up in Western Siberia, in the snowy cold edge of the taiga and endless swamps. In the Siberian city of Tomsk, I graduated from university and received a diploma in journalism. Almost immediately, I received an invitation to leave to work in the Arctic. It was an even colder deserted and wild place than Siberia. After several years of hard work and communication with different people, I realized that the best way to talk about a person is through photography. I started experimenting with the old Soviet medium-format camera Kiev-60. A photograph from the very first film gave unexpected results. The portrait of the artist’s young girl was chosen by the curator of the European project Sensual Photography for publication at the very beginning of the published collection. It convinced me that I was on the right track. But I did not give up journalism because it allowed me to survive. Photography has remained my passion, my hobby, without which I cannot fully live. After some time, I left journalism and got a job in a puppet theater. There I got acquainted with amazing performances and the work of artists and directors, which helped me understand myself and my true preferences in art and photography. After some time, I realized that my health does not have a love for a cold climate, I moved to the Black Sea coast of Russia. On the coast, I came across the fact that local people are completely indifferent to art and photography. There were no developed communities of artists and photographers. And here it is very difficult to find a model for full creative work. But I decided that despondency is a sin. And the more complicated the situation, the more valuable the result for me. Thanks to these problems, I have moved even closer to understanding my true goals in creating photographs. I do not strive for fashionable and beautiful interiors and accessories. I am fascinated by the atmosphere of the Soviet Union, because I grew up in it. She became for me a symbol of the existential search and loneliness of the rare and special creative people who surrounded me.
