About The Artwork

Passage 2 Sand-shift frontiers, an emigration of sea. There shore-lines watermark with fleeting sky, light like winged silk. Our horizons tide northwards. Mary Gilonne is an award-winning poet. The poems are fused with the images to heighten appreciation of this empty and beautiful landscape. This is an East Asian tradition. These pictures allow our focus to dwell on the endlessly changing horizon and the myriad possibilities it represents. The monostitch poems by Mary Gilonne explore in words the scene depicted - acting as a stimulus to contemplation. They give an insight in to the mind of another and helping us assess our own responses to the image. This image is just two images of the same scene taken at different focal lengths Limited Edition of 15, archival Giclee print on Canson Aquarelle rag paper. and has a water-colour painting look. Canson Aquarelle Rag is a highly textured Giclée art paper , offering strong reproduction of blacks and good colour intensity with a texture that holds the ink and catches the light. This Giclée paper has a white uncoated paper base, which together with the texture gives the artwork a lovely fine art and craft feel. It is a robust paper that handles mounting well.

I moved to Norfolk in 1973 and have spent a great deal of leisure time exploring and photographing the county. There are still many paths untrod, but the sea and the rivers have always drawn me back. The seascape photographs displayed here are from one coastal location. It is a relatively deserted part of the coast, not readily accessible and subject to big tides. Depending on tide and weather conditions there are enormous changes in atmosphere. Also there are numerous chalk streams in Norfolk, accessing can be challenging but always worth the time, one never knows what reflection will be found on the water surface.
