About The Artwork
This image is from a series of color abstractions obtained by scanning film. The series is dedicated to a conceptual exploration of the secret meaning of the memory that film captures. The main idea of the picture: What if the picture can tell something more important than the objects and people captured in this film? This set of basic colors - I can't know exactly how it came out, but therein lies the pure visual magic, much more exciting than classic photography. Perhaps this is the autograph of that very “decisive moment”, which is always not where we expect it. The prints are museum-quality, archival pigment prints on high-end fiber-based papers and are printed in limited editions. They are shipped with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity. Sasha Bauer is a interdisciplinary artist from Saint-Petersburg who was born in Surgut, Russia in 1988. She has a degree in psychology and uses photography and other visual techniques as an art-therapy for self-reflection and expression of subconscious images. The author explores the themes of individual and collective subconscious traumas as well as of national, gender and cultural identities. In her work, the author is inspired by the work of such individuals as Sofie Calle, Ilya Kabakov, Laura Letinsky, Ingmar Bergman and many other. In her projects, Sasha uses various visual techniques: collage, installation, photography, scanography, intuitive drawing, object modeling.
