Mixed-Media Artist Former K-12 Visual Fine Arts Educator Community Volunteer Social Justice & Environmental Art      I’m Renette "Ren" Wilson, a lifetime mixed-media artist, artreprenuer, and former early childhoold and art educator. As a visual artist, I draw inspiration from personal deep, subconscious emotions and thoughts that defy written expression. For over a decade, Abstract art has been my focus as it liberates me from representational constraints and allows more creativity.       My artistic process combines traditional methods with artistic-discovery, self-expression and new-media techniques. I enjoy creative solutions, new artistic experience and knowledge gained from art making processes.  “Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.”  - Picasso    So, what is SplashArt?         In 2015, I developed a painting process called "SplashArt" abstract art. Later, I created acrylic pour paintings and quickly utilized both simultaneously as I grew more in harmony with abstract art. SplashArt is a painting technique where paint and water splash together to create an abstract painting. During the process, both the paint and water morph with limited or no control creating spontaneous, abstract expressionistic paintings. The process of "splashart" abstract paintings is filmed and images are captured. The paintings are bold, vivid and embody wonderous texture. Collage-styled, gestural abstracts and fractal designs may be created with digital art processes to make unique artworks from splashart or acrylic pour paintings.        SplashArt  liberates me from the ideals of traditional art in both technique and subject matter. I enjoy the spontaneity of the process because it limits control of the outcome of the paint, yet it gives me freedom of personal expression using color and texture and mixed-medium.​      My work depicts personal life experiences, social and environmental concerns, human portraits, and natural surroundings. I often use bold, vivid colors to illustrate intense, awareness of subconscious thought throughout many of my works. I am inspired by a host of African American women such as: Kara Walker, Elizabeth Catlett and Faith Ringgold as their works are reminiscent of similar themes.      From the photography images of the my paintings, I create high quality, Original, Limited Edition and Open Edition, Giclée art prints available to art collectors around the world at affordable prices.
