Profile of a Social Construct: Race-Trayvon Martin, 2012 explores America's socially constructed view of the hierarchical system of race and the killing of unarmed people of color, namely young black men. While America touts "The Land of the Free", systems in place may historically demonstrate otherwise. is Trayvon Martin, a 17 yr. old black child, walked home from purchasing skittles candy and a tea from the local store in Sanford, Florida. George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman, deemed Trayvon appeared suspicious while walking at night since there had been prior break-ins in the area. This work challenges Zimmerman and other’s views on racially profiling young black men as it juxtaposes Ahmaud Arbery. He was another young, unarmed black man killed in 2020 by neighborhood men because he was deemed suspicious as he expressed his love for jogging in a Georgia neighborhood during the daytime. . This abstract digital art was created with the splashart process using acrylics and digital collage art processes. Digital manipulation is used to enhance color. It is printed on Giclée Premium Glossy Paper and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Contact me for more options on printed materials and sizes

Mixed-Media Artist Former P -12 Visual Fine Arts Educator Community Volunteer Social Justice & Environmental Vusual Arts Activist I'm a lifetime artist-educator producing artworks using traditional art techniques, self-expression, and new artistic discovery. I draw inspiration from patterns of nature, portraits, animals, and the environment around me; therefore, my art depicts hints of personal life experiences, and social and environmental issues. Currently, I'm creating abstract photography by the acrylic pour painting method and with a technique I call "splashart"- a technique by which water and paint splash together. Simultaneously, I capture still images of the paint and water transitioning and morphing to create abstract photography images. Digital manipulation is added to create mesmerizing, bold, fractal pattern paintings and professional photography prints are produced.
