About The Artwork

Description: Using borosilicate test tubes, aluminum, 1/2" steel and various fasteners, I fabricated a piece which plays on the relationship between societies, their surroundings and the dilemma of individuality within this character draining world we live in. Each glass tube is carefully etched with either the word "identity", a question mark, or a period. 100 holes have been drilled into the top plate with enough clearance to give each tube a chance to interact with the tubes surrounding it.

This subtly speaks of how singularly we are just one, with the opportunity to find ourself and allow ourself to grow and nurture our own personal spirit. However, we come in contact with others and the others are in contact with even more

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Im drawn to the re-contextualization of objects, humanizing them and asking the viewers to not depend on their collective memories in order to have novel, rather than prefabricated experiences. The choices I make regarding materials become a significant part of the process. Using man-made objects or fabricating objects which are easily recognized, I create a narrative around the individual and their struggles with change, society, progression, and regression. Through each piece, the individual is forced to negotiate the conflicting impulses of the human psyche and culturally imposed expectations. The intent is to confront viewers with questions about themselves, society, what we take for granted and how we can change our perception and general acceptance of life. My artistic drive is fueled by my desire to challenge my audience to look beyond the surface: to project oneself onto a piece and acknowledge ones existence as a profound opportunity, while creating a moment where one questions his or her individuality among the collective.
