About The Artwork
One of the largest beach invasions of history was that of the beaches of Normandy in 1944 during the Second World War, when the allies landed a huge armada as part of the effort to overthrow the Nazi regime that controlled large parts of Europe. In the face of opposition from the German army on the beaches, allied soldiers landed on the beaches on landing craft such as these.
