Egypt has many sites that showcase the magnificent history of ancient Egypt, from many millenia ago to the later stage when the country was ruled by pharaohs who were of Greek origin, called the Ptolemaic rulers. So, there are the Pyramids, which represent a very ancient rule, and there are numerous temples, representing different time periods. Kom Ombo is a temple from the Ptolemaic time, but is more unusual since it is a double temple, dedicated to two sets of gods, Sobek and Horus. There are the ruins of the temple in places, with tourists standing among the base sections of large pillars that have lost their top parts.
