About The Artwork

Lightjet Print on Kodak Pro Endura paper, glossy, with an additional white border. Limited edition of 5 Comes with a certificate of authenticity, edition nr. and signature. San Telmo is the Heart of classical Buenos Aires. The original residents created a very beautiful neighbourhood and subsequently left in favor of another part of Buenos Aires. Since the area decayed. But in recent years many buildings have been restored, so the one shown on the photo. But the photo is not intended as a documentation of this process, it's a fiction, and after a first glimpse you may wonder: Light is coming from both directions; at the left and the right side of the image people are walking out of the scene in a completely identical way; the door on the corner forms a quite unusual entrance. The restored San Telmo residence has become a part of a strange scene. And how? The right half, the original photo that shows real San Telmo, has been copied and flipped over, and finely I put the two parts together.

Once a scholar, now a photographer: After retiring, Hans Carl Finsen, a professor of German, has started a new career as a fine art photographer. Actually, he has been practicing photography for decades, but not until now sought an audience. His debut was in 2013. Lives and works in Aarhus, Denmark. As a photographer Finsen is looking for aesthetically interesting, thrilling, appealing or pleasing constellations. In the quest for these constellations he doesn't confine himself to certain subjects or a certain style. He moves in all directions where inspiration takes him and so his work is diversified. Nevertheless three focus points are discernible: 1 architecture and townscape 2 the art museum. He visits museums worldwide to get inspired by interiors and exteriors, works of art, visitors and the view from the museum 3 masters. He remodels, remasters, modifies and combines old and new masters creating the series 'Masters Remodeled' alphahc@mail8.dk https://hcfinsen.myportfolio.com
