Julia Scorna was born in 1983 in Magdeburg, East Germany. Raised in Leipzig, from the beginning Julia Scorna owns an enhanced sensitivity for social events and changes, which is based primarily on everyday observation. In 2008 she completed the study of visual communication at Bauhaus-University Weimar under the supervision of Prof. Hermann Stamm and Prof. Dr. Karl Schawelka. Since the establishment of the Gallery Eigenheim in 2006 Julia Scorna is, together with Konstantin Bayer, a part of the artistic direction and group of Eigenheim artists. In 2006, she traveled for several months in the Middle East, where she lived in East Jerusalem and toured Palestine. 2008/2009 she lived and worked for six months in Shanghai, where she worked with Konstantin Bayer and realized the Gallery Project Island 6 Shack. In 2011 she worked as a freelance artist and designer for two years in Leipzig. 2013 she moved to Paris. Julia Scornas photographs continue the need of observation and documentation and raise the fleeting moment to picturesque aesthetics and portentous symbolism, which was created out of the artistic environment in the Gallery Eigenheim and is supported by very small editions and large formats. She finds her subjects through documentation, without artificial production. The authenticity of the presence is manifested by the production process of the analog, as well through self-produced, unique, handmade black/white prints. Her matter is symbolically rediscovered in her installation (light/sound), wich were in her partially kind of interactive way for reflection to free connotation and to advertise the view of the observer to sit in his naturally environment. This appeal to a reflective introspection is all operations same thrust.
