Art Description

Photography: Color, Digital, C-type, Dye Transfer and Manipulated on Canvas, Carbon Fibre, Cardboard, Paper and Plastic.

This image was taken in San Ignacio, Sinaloa, Mexico at a sacred place called Las Labradas. This indigenous ceremonial center is home to one of the finest collections of carved stones in the country - some dating back as far as 1,500 years - and is located right on the beach of San Ignacio in the community of La Chicayota and the fishing village of Barras de Piaxtia, about 45 minutes north of Mazatlan. I decided to take a close up photo of the shaman's stick and part of his drum. I then created the painted feel to the image.
