Silence Photograph

The photograph "Silence" is part of the series "Thought Landscapes." The concept of returning and photographing the very same motif over and over again is recognized as a personal artistic practice. The sea as a body of water, part of the ocean, has been an inspiring element to so many people all around the globe, from Homer to Freud, from Calvino to Hemingway, just to mention few. The sea refers to life and its hardships, to unpredictability of events and consequences of decisions we make. When I stare at sea, life stops and thoughts appear on the horizon of my mind. Pleasurable and painful events like waves slowly approach the shore. Focusing on one sole wave shows how the sea allows the wave to live a life of its own, change colour, strength, size and finally disappear. The sea serves as analogy to mind and waves are like thoughts.
