I wanted to represent China's rapid economic development and success. I hope it will give viewers a sense of how deliberate governmental decisions CAN change a society. I was representing 1978 to 2014 in a work I was creating in 2016 so I couldn't be there to photograph it. But being a photographer I needed to photograph something. So I created small symbolic models and then lit and photographed them. In this piece: The 1 fen coin represents price point, the rare earth magnets represent china's status as having the biggest natural reserve of rare earth metals. The CD represents copying. The faux metal base represents light industry which was the original key to China's economic success under Deng after the heavy industry failures of the Mao era.

Hong Kong
An Australian resident in Hong Kong since 2000. I sold my first travel adventure pieces when I was 19. Since then my writing and/or photography has been in numerous magazines including Action Asia, South China Morning Post, HK Magazine, Panorama, Morning Calm and Dynasty and books like Australia Towards The Milenium. In 2010 at age 51, I finaly decided to start on a formal qualification from SCAD. Somehow this moved me into a more abstract direction. Since then, my fine art work has been covered in 'Arts of Asia' and 'Silvershots' I am a founding member of the 4corners group, otherwise referred to as the Hong Kong Post-Futurists. This is an international fine art movement based in Hong Kong. It includes six photographers and two painters from six countries
