Ships in a Crate
Four Photo-transparencies mounted on sintra with wood frame backing. Work consists of two separate panels. This early work is largely based by experiences within the banal, vacuous, and meaningless life that can be apparent and even within the most inspired possibilities of middle class life in America, where a certain emptiness often prevails. A sense of the mundane, repetitive, loneliness and alienation was also a conscious thought when completing this work and similar narrative approches, as well as the nonsensical, or the unexpressed as a form of anti-art in the tradition of Dada. Many of these narrative works are informed by the ideas of deconstruction, reader/response theories, the attempte of exposing, but also upsetting traditional interpretations and expectations.

United States
The artist's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Working in figurative, semi-narrative, cinematic and similar representational modes, his work first embraced Surrealist tropes in an attempt to transcend literal, concrete meaning and more recently his work has been informed by concepts of Dada, theater of the absurd, the nonsensical, nothingness perhaps related to cultural and social aspects within our current society and the world we find ourselves in the twenty-first century whereby the works attempt to confront, raise questions, or to quietly subvert the comfortable areas of orthodoxy prevalent in society and history. The artist born and raised in upstate NY. He lives and works in Albany NY.
