About The Artwork

"Driving like Hell" to the Whitney Plantation in German Town Louisana, we made the tour. Standing in the slave kitchen envisioning the bustling plantation as it was... I could hear the sound of iron and singing children under God's beautiful sun. A seemingly sweet smell of refined sugar and magnolias. In actuality, the boiling kettles affectionately referred to as,"Jamaica trains" left a smell of blood, death and devoured children behind. I was marred with beautiful stains on my soul... that of revolt, children, sugar, and hope.
