Inspiration for 'Sunlight on a Sea of Dead Trees' comes perhaps from a lifelong fascination with Paul Nash's 'The Pyramids in the Sea' (1912). Sunlight falls on a dead ocean, a sea of dead trees – a prescient glimpse into futurity, our beautiful apocalypse. This uncertain landscape-cum-seascape, drowned in its dolorous blue hue of dread, layers photography with cracked digital oil and wax textures on wood and paper to evoke the spirit of our end times, the Anthropocene.
