About The Artwork

"TRAPPED 2: Chronique d'une mort annoncée" - Birdy Tg - 2014 ("Chronicle of a predicted death") "In the Garden of God and the Devil" Serie Edition print limited to 7 60x40 cm - Kodak Silver Print on laminated aluminium plate and under Diasec TM - Framed in Black Wood Shadow Box 68x48cm Many close-up on the numerous details can been seen on Birdy Tg Website: http://www.mypixeldiary.com/-/galleries/in-the-garden-of-god-and-the-devil/page/2 Carrying on the philosophical parallel he establishes between the Dante Alighieri ‘s « Divine Comedy » and Fashion World, Birdy Tg offers here the next instalment of his famous visual serial: « In the Garden of God and the Devil ». Following the course of his Novel of the same title, which will edited in 2016, Birdy Tg here tells about what could be seen at first as an everynight scene on a Paris café terrace... BUT "Truth is not always welcome to be told or shown... especially when the true story is the greatest secret to keep on earth... A sad winter night in Paris... On a café terrace, only "Salades" are proposed on the menu... "Salades" in French is not only a vegetable or a salad to eat but also means "To tell nasty tales"... And this very special night nasty tells will be told for sure. The trap has been set! This the chronicle of a predicted death..." Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, or even to be born, is purely coincidental and beyond the Author’s will, all the characters being totally fictitious. Birdy Tg uses here a very instinctive drawing style, fast and nervous, as if he was the witness of a very special event happening live just in front of him and as if he wanted to keep in mind what occurs here. He uses the typical spontaneous style of a judicial editor making a sketch during a trial... Critics have stated Birdy Tg’s style as “ lyrical, poetic, oneiric, allegorical and romantic…” (Ref: Hans Herrmann, German Art Critic, 2014), “true visual poetry; original, strong and powerful art, treated as freeze cinematographic frames; oneiric, baroque and surrealist frescoes, in a luministic and metaphorical manner…” (Ref: Nathalie Becker: Luxembourger Art Critic, 2014) or again “can be described as Diegetic and Lyrical Conceptual Art…” (Ref: Eric Vivier, French Art Critic and Visual Art Lecturer, 2015). « IN THE GARDEN OF GOD AND THE DEVIL » “In the Garden of God and the Devil” is the name of my last Concept which I am presently working on and will consecrate 3 full years to it. This is also the title of my new Novel and Musical Suite that will be out in 2016. The whole concept is a philosophical parallel between the “Divine Comedy” by Dante Alighieri and the “Fashion World”. At first glance, the comparison or the confrontation between those two universes, which seem to be so different, could be at least surprising, maybe even chocking, but with a bit more of attention, the real surprise is how they can be similar. “In the Garden of God and the Devil” is, of course, a tribute to the great Master of Italian Literature and the French painter and illustrator Gustave Doré but also to the most famous fashion designers of the 20th and 21st centuries: Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Riccardo Tisci, Jean-Paul Gaultier, etc… whose, for quite a large number of them, life and destiny have often difficult if not tragic. This also a tribute to all the anonymous people sacrificed by this coruscating but fierce world. Taking place over 7 centuries, the action begins like a nervous thriller for a long and difficult quest across an infernal world of illusions, collusions, compromises, corruptions, perversions and sufferings… Voyage with no return down into the deepest darkness of Hell or luminous and oneiric initiatory crusade to the Promised Land and the Eternal Glory? Is Fashion only the symptomatic reflection of a whole society mired into an engaged process of total decadence or, “only”, the dramaturgy of a desperate attempt for reaching the ultimate “Chef d’Oeuvre” (Masterpiece) by the accomplishment of the sacred knowledge into the Icarian tragedy? Birdy Tg ©2015 For more explanations on the artwork or on the author, please look at the profile section of the artist: Photographer, painter, sculptor, writer, music composer, Birdy Tg is a multimedia artist. For him, nothing is definitively compartmentalized in Art. Birdy Tg wants to feel totally free inside of his artistic expression, with no genre limitation, and that’s why he prefers to speak about Visual Art better than Photography as he often gladly mixes painting, drawing and photography all together into his art...

Photographer, painter, sculptor, writer, music composer, Birdy Tg is a multimedia artist. For him, nothing is definitively compartmentalized in Art. Birdy Tg wants to feel totally free inside of his artistic expression, with no genre limitation, and that’s why he prefers to speak about Visual Art better than Photography as he often gladly mixes painting, drawing and photography all together into his art. The German Art Critic, Hans Herrmann, writes about Birdy Tg in 2014:“Birdy Tg pushes further and breaks for well all the Photography limits we used to know before… …Birdy Tg’s style is very unique and strong, escaping to all traditional classifications, far from what is usually given to see in the nowadays tidal wave of images. Meanwhile, if a classification is needed, his photography could be described as Lyrical, Poetic, Oneiric, Allegorical and Romantic. He, himself, always describes his photographs as Visual Poems and Dramas. Whatever, we are in presence of a body of artwork, in no way coincidental, but extremely meticulous and thought, and which makes think. Each of the smallest details, even the most hidden ones, provides yet more evidences to serve the underlying philosophical comment. Most of his artworks are stuffed of coded messages but also of a bunch of literature, painting, cinema, photography references and work as a true treasure hunt... There is for sure the prime impact of the skill then always the possibility to dive deeper in Birdy Tg’s endless world… …Birdy Tg uses a lot of different photography techniques, drawing and paintings that he patiently mixes in very large format frescoes. Some of his most recent works include more than 2000 photographs in a single artwork which required over several thousands hours to produce. His photography often plays with a rich palette of dark tones and focused light in a very elegant way, his aesthetics being not without reminding the classic Japanese Art by the whole aestheticism but also for the rigour of the global construction. But I personally get the feeling that he could touch any style with brio thanks to an obvious very tough classical art background. This is what I had the chance to confirm again when very recently seeing his latest Serie “In the Garden of God and the Devil, I discovered new astonishing works in which he could so easily mix without contradiction Baroque and Caricature Art, Surrealism and Minimal Art.
