Artist statement

For my creative piece I used hybrid of literary sources, In Praise of Shadows by Jun'ichir? Tanizaki and "The Painter of Modern Life" by Charles Baudelaire. My painting shows the image of the Guggenheim Museum, Baudelaires concept of an artists Agora. The Guggenheim is an art gallery, where the inside spirals down, like water going down a drain. Its an Agora designed by an architect made for flaneurs. Then I used Jun'ichir? Tanizakis thought process, which takes up both the singular and the random, to come up with my own idea of what the Guggenheim might be.
