The Hobbit and the Moon - Limited Edition of 10 Photograph

When I was 10 I was obsessed with JRR Tolkien. I turned my initials into a monogram the way that he did, and I was all about The Hobbit. I thought that it was a "perfect circle" as a piece of literature. I took this image in Point Howard, during a full moon in the bottom right you can see a figure that looks like a hobbit (with enormous ears) sitting and enjoying the peace and quiet, perhaps mid-way through an adventure, about which we know nothing at all. Perhaps it is only my imagination, but possibly not. As Shakespeare wrote: "And therefore as a stranger give it welcome. There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” After all, New Zealand is "Middle Earth" It's simply a form of beauty, and again, I don't think that it requires an explanation, but I suppose that it does reflect the way that I used to feel like a kid growing up in Lower Hutt -and camping out. I must have developed a taste for adventure, for the unknown that has never really left me. Every so often I like to feel the kick of adrenaline -so that I can feel fully alive.
