Once again this image partakes as part of the series displayed here featuring this time the roller coaster in Benidorm, Spain, shot under moonlight. The picture was taken as a part of a series investigation the nature of landscape and how we use it. In this case the title 'Interrupted' refers to the values that we place on our landscape, marking it with our desires for entertainment and distraction. The image, taken under moonlight aims to provoke a questioning and reflecting about our values, what is important to use, what is meaningful? The viewer I hope, feels the cooling subdued nature of the moonlight, that provides a flatter two dimentional perspective, but also in the coolness has a space to reflect on the above questions, or similar. The style is based on the New Topographics exhibition of 1975 in the united states that aimed to objectively look at the way that landscape was changing in the west of America. Therefore, there is a documentary element to this work as well as the unusual aesthetic of the moonlight.

Spain
Steve Young was born in London in 1970. He now lives in the Valencia region of Spain. For many years he has worked on photography projects both commercial and private. Primarily he describes himself as an academically trained art photographer. What does that mean? That all of the work made is underpinned by contextual and visual research, sometimes taking some months to prepare and shoot a project. The work, although not always obvious, offers the viewer both a critique of the situation that is photographed as well as an aesthetic experience. He is an experienced meditator. Over the years of photography practice the motivations to make photos have changed. In the beginning the desire was simply to get the best looking shot. As time has evolved, his artistic vision has deepened and aligned itself more with the voice of experience as an observer of outer and inner phenomia. Photography for Steve Young, is almost always a practice in time of patience and reflection, never rushed or hurried. In many cases the maturation of a body of work can take months or year.
