About The Artwork

PRINT DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Thumb Slide" I found this amalgamation of boulders on Split Rock trail in Joshua Tree National Park. The lighting was less harsh, leaving an overcast to soften the shadows. Otherwise, a more perfect placement of rocks is hard to find. The slope carrying us down from the thumb and its corresponding profile contrasts the busyness of the boulders in the background. The rocks themselves are intriguing and one wonders how they could have held up here for thousands of years. The agave in the front peeking up as if curious. A brush of the afternoon sky highlighting an otherwise dark visage. PRINT DETAILS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This print will include a 2” Border and Certificate of Authenticity. This image will be printed using archival inks and Hahnemuhle Papers Photo Rag Paper at 308gsm, Smooth Matte Finish, 100% Cotton Paper, Archival Quality, Acid Free. Please note that the estimated production time (delivery time not included) is 10-15 working days as this limited edition artwork is made to order.

Brandon LeValley (1954) is a photographic artist from the United States. In 1976 he graduated from Washington State University where his Bachelor’s Degree included Art studies. He’s always had a passion for photography. That desire was fueled early in life when he was still shooting film and utilizing a darkroom to process images. Holding a final print offered a world of experience seeing how the light on a subject materialized. Years later he realized the digital camera had revolutionized processing. Today, he converts most images to black and white and often shoots botanicals for their dramatic lines and shape. He’s also drawn to architecture and landscapes. Living near Joshua Tree National Park provides many dramatic configurations that come from his explorations. While his journey in photography has evolved, it’s often ignited by striking lighting. He’s fascinated by the abstract and uses every tool to achieve a finished composition. A unique image, he believes, comes about by a disciplined and oftentimes exhaustive approach. Knowing the payoff can be rewarding, that commitment to detail ultimately renders a more compelling work.
