Valley Again 4 Photograph - Limited Edition of 100

Second session in the valley that goes down to a main valley called Emek Rephaim (valley of the Giants [or Spirits]) that goes down from the heart of Jerusalem, opposite Mt Zion, down to the Mediterranean coastal plain to the west. Near the bottom end of the valley old stone age remains were found in a huge cave. These photos are part of a large project spanning a number of years where I photograph woods on the Isle of Wight off the southern coast of England and the wooded landscape around south and west Jerusalem. There is evidence of pre-historic habitation on the Island, but the oldest wood is from about the 13th century. The trees around Jerusalem have mostly been planted in the 20th century, but some of the stones and terraces on the hillsides seem like ancient living beings.
