This is one image from an ongoing series of studies of the Alexander Calder sculpture, Two Disks, which sits in front of the Hirshhorn Museum on the National Mall in Washington, DC. It is a black and white photography that I color toned. Color can be distracting from the power inherent in black and white whereas color has limited power. In that I mean color has its own inherent power. It's red or green or orange or blue etc. Whereas black and white has that - black and white - and all the grays in between which are akin to black and white and therefore are derivative and are in a sense natural inheritors of the black and white's power.
