Work inspired by Mark Rothko. The color in my images always expresses a dynamic feeling that impacts the viewer. I have always been interested in isolating details of an environment in order to create a new object, thereby showing the possibility of viewing any situation from a different perspective.

Statement
Photography has been a life-long pursuit in visually capturing how I perceive the world. Each photograph I shoot reflects this vision and expresses my emotions on many different levels. Viewing my work in chronological order reveals visual changes that correspond to what I was experiencing at the time. My meditation practice also plays a part in the creation process. I consciously put myself into a meditative state while shooting and printing my work. From this, my images can impact viewers on many different subconscious levels, causing a shift in how one sees their own world.
I am a purist in my technical approach to photography; staying true to the photographic process, not using
special lenses, filters, cameras, or tricks. My objective is to create an illusion where the object being photographed takes on a life of its own. Using this method, three-dimensional objects appear two-dimensional and vice versa. I
intentionally use textures, forms, and colors which play off of each other to create these illusions. As the viewer steps back from the image and focuses on the different visual planes and how they intersect, it is possible to perceive either two or three dimensions.
When making a photograph, my main objective is to create interest. The viewer is drawn into the work and develops a personal interpretation of what the image represents. In this context, one might have either a similar or radically different experience than my own during photograph process. The viewer becomes a participant in the creation of the art and experiences the act of being creative. This stimulates thought processes and develops into both internal and external dialogue.
My intention when making a photograph is to capture the feeling I am having at the moment I trip the shutter.
