About The Artwork

Cars heading in to the Paris Alma Tunnel are like pilgrims passing the shrine of a martyr, heading through a dimension that is hidden from our sight, that travels into time and rapidly past the thirteenth pillar where Princess Diana's car crashed. She did not die exactly there, we don't think. But what do we know? We travel by so fast. We feel but cannot see, not consciously; the feelings begin before we arrive at the Alma, and the feelings linger after we depart. The traffic flies by, but captured, even only for a moment, one feels the car is the boat carrying the soul under the bridge of the soul. The bridge becomes a shrine, the road a pathway through death, the martyr's body is long removed but we, the pilgrims, remember what happened here.
