ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I love cemeteries. And having missed a visit to Cimitiere Pere-Lachaise on a prior trek to Paris, my wife and I made certain to include a walk through the hallowed site on a visit this summer . . . The cemetery is home to the gravesites of many legendary figures: Edith Piaf; Simone Signoret and Yves Montand; Ettore Bugatti; Oscar Wilde; Frederic Chopin; Marcel Marceau; Maria Calas; Isadora Duncan; Colette; Moliere; and, even, Sarah Bernhardt, among the tens of thousands. But one of the most-visited gravesites is that of legendary Doors frontman Jim Morrison. The site isn't easy to find. And the burial place is crammed in a not-so-easy-to-reach corner between tombs and mausoleums, surrounded by an unwelcoming fence. The best way to reach it is to follow the crowds, which we did, though it's a difficult location to shoot -- given all the barriers. Unless you're willing to hop the fence -- sorry; that's just an unacceptable option -- you have limited ways to make shots of the grave. I made a number of them and when I came home decided to run some through a paint program I have to see what they might look like as renditions of the original prints. I thought this one kind of funky. In addition to the copies that will be listed, these are a series of 2 numbered, signed, matted and framed limited edition prints on Hahnemuhle Photo Silk paper in a wooden black frame with white mat . . . The print size is 23.9 x 20 -- 24.7 x 20.8 with border [mat and frame size is bigger] . . . I'm hopeful it's an iconic print of the resting place of an iconic figure in rock history . . .

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I'm a national award-winning journalist and nine-time Pulitzer nominee who's made hundreds of TV and radio appearances, including NPR and Good Morning America. Author of Swee'pea [Simon & Schuster / Atria], a critically acclaimed book centered around New York City playground basketball legend Lloyd (Swee'pea) Daniels, I've been featured in several documentary films -- including the Emmy Award-winning ESPN 30-for-30 Big Shot. While I've worked primarily as a sports reporter, news reporter, columnist and investigative journalist, I've also done travel writing and photography during a four-decade career at a major New York daily paper, and I'm currently shopping my first novel. This marks my first foray into selling my fine art photography . . . P.S. I've noticed that when it comes to calling up full screen versions of some photos they appear to lack clarity. PLEASE use the "Original" file -- especially, when you're looking at Open Edition prints -- because those files appear to be proper large-scale renditions. Hoping this gets rectified . . .
