About The Artwork
This piece is from a large collection titled PORTRAITS FROM FURURES PAST. It is a digital photograph that has been manipulated in the computer. I made this one print from the manipulated file and then deleted that file. The print was then painted with acrylics and brush pens. Then I created the frame from recycled materials. The print was made on acid free paper with archival inks and attached to the backing board with acid free adhesive. I have photographed these pre Hispanic figurines many times in different parts of Mexico. They have always been profound to me...seeming both ancient and futuristic. I had no desire to document them but rather wanted to hop on , climb inside and see where they might take me. The framing was inspired by the folk art that I have seen throughout Mexico and Central America and is an integral part of the piece.
