A hug for you is a warm, direct and heart catching image that represents that moment in society when kindness over-rules. It´s the support that we give one another and a representation of all the small gestures that make big difference. This minimalistic drawing is simple in palet with just red and blue. The brush strokes are the key ingredients on the image, as honest as the subject. These Limited Edition Prints are printed using archival quality Fine Art Trade Guild approved printers, ink and paper: a Fine Art Giclée print on Somerset Photo paper, 300gsm.

My name is Mai Sanchez and I’m a surrealist artist currently based in London. At the age of 16 I decided to move from Spain to England. It was the exposure to this new culture that showed me a new world, where art was treated and conceived differently and so were artists. That was it; that was the point when I crossed off my career as an architect and against all the preconceived ideas I had accumulated throughout my childhood, I made art my focus: First class BA(Hons) in Fine Art, 2012. From drawing to painting, storytelling and ‘cellotaping’, art has always been in my life, it is part of my personality and my voice. Although I come from a background filled with classical and contained art lessons, I’m attracted to the contextually-based art that surrounds us now. I use art as a way to have a visual discussion with myself and later others. I believe in the power that art has in society, it is my aim to get involved. I love creating new narratives, utilising perspective as well as exploring the use of the line to further involve the viewer in the artwork. I find myself intrigued by the difficulty in simplification; discovering how much one single line can morph and express fascinates me. Pablo Picasso, da Vinci, Paula Rego, Basquiat are my all-time favourite artists and it is not only their art but their artistic freedom that I admire and that I use in my work. I grow one drawing at a time, searching for my masterpiece.
