About The Artwork

Description: Creation in the Trinities, is a Genesis retelling; resplendent with Adam and Eve, The Creator, and set in an imaginary Northern California landscape. Rich in creation imagery the giclee print uses museum qualiy inks and paper in ultra subtle, highly refined applications. Its soft almost ethereal quality comes alive at around dawn every morning and for a brief moment awakens, with radiant completeness, only to become oh so quiet, awaiting the dawn of a new day.

John Fitzgerald, born USA August 24, 1950. After graduating from San Francisco State in 1973, I moved to Chico Ca. with my B.A. in art and a desire to express my ideas and experiences. Here I received a profound personal experience that resolved my commitment to art. I painted, drew, and started entering juried competitions. I also acquired my first commission to paint a 10x12 mural at the University of Chico. As a representational artist I felt that my ability to communicate was directly linked to the literacy of my artistic statement. Upper most in my mind was a need to develop my technical skill.
In 1974 I moved to the Mojave Desert and took a job briefly as an illustrator. In 1976 I was hired as an adjunct art instructor at Cerro Coso College and continued to teach and paint until 1985. During this time I competed in hundreds of juried competitions and won over 40 local, regional, and national awards. I also started showing my work in galleries on the East and West coasts.
In 1986 I moved to northern California where my skills in painting and drawing reached mastery. Subject matter remained representational and reflected a multi-faceted style that was represented by several galleries.
From 1990-93 I became an adjunct art instructor for Shasta College, teaching art in various communities during the evenings and painting in the studio during the day.
1995 I received a teaching credential. During this time color awareness evolved giving rise to the radiant effects of pigment and the effervescence that appears to emanate from inside the objects and also the void spaces within matter. Colors choices are now based on intuition and visceral responses to the colors.
In 2003 I purchased a large format printer and began producing limited editions giclee prints. My originals and prints are currently represented in many galleries.

orld. His unerring eye and metaphysical imagination are evidenced through the ever-changing subject matter of his paintings. They represent the convergence of creativity, nature, and the spirit.
In an artist statement he wrote: Some ideas and experiences are worth committing a lifetime to. These works you see were born in the hope that creative ideas, expressed well, can become illuminating in time. Currently, my work embodies intuitive responses to form and color which fuse to interpret visual images and spiritual awareness.
