Contact us.Adebesin Adedamola, known professionally as Dabesh, is a Nigerian-born visual artist based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He holds a Higher National Diploma in General Art and Painting from Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, Nigeria, where he graduated in 2003.
Working primarily with painting and mixed media, Dabesh explores the complexities of human experience through themes of psychology, memory, relationships, spirituality, identity, and cultural heritage. His practice draws inspiration from personal experiences, literary works, philosophical ideas, and observations of society, bringing together individual narratives and broader questions about humanity.
Through expressive compositions, symbolic imagery, layered surfaces, and the interplay of colour and form, he investigates the beliefs, emotions, and subconscious influences that shape how people perceive themselves and the world around them. His work often invites viewers to look beyond the visible image, reflect on their own experiences, and discover meanings that extend beyond the canvas.
For Dabesh, art is more than a decorative object; it is a form of inquiry, a visual diary, and a means of exploring the relationship between personal consciousness and collective experience. His artistic journey bridges African cultural perspectives and contemporary life, creating works that encourage contemplation, emotional engagement, and a deeper understanding of the human condition.
Through his practice, Dabesh seeks to create meaningful visual encounters that remain with viewers long after they have left the artwork.
