About The Artwork
Made up mostly of elements that are freely painted and reassembled to form a dramatic and very colourful rendition of what could be a fairly ordinary, or predictable image.What excites me is the wonderful textures that emerge from manipulating these fragments with bright colour and texture so they become integral to the image, but have their own wonderful presence. I was thinking of Caulfield and Lichtenstein and Kitaj. But then I do anyway! Caulfield for the ambiguous interiors, Ron Kitaj for the beautiful laconic landscapes and Roy Lichtenstein for the first fantastic show when I was a teenager. The formalised cartoon paint stroke! Oh, and Larry Rivers!
